The Cobblestone Landing Historic Marker identifies one of the earliest river landings in Memphis. Constructed of stone to withstand flooding and heavy use, the landing served as a primary point for loading and unloading goods and passengers along the Mississippi River.
Situated along the downtown riverfront, the marker highlights Memphis’s origins as a river port. It illustrates how river access shaped the city’s early economy, transportation patterns and commercial growth.
