The Solvent Savings Bank Historical Marker commemorates one of the first African American owned banks in Memphis. Founded to serve Black residents who were excluded from many financial institutions, the bank played a critical role in economic development and financial independence.
The marker is located near the former bank site downtown. It reflects Memphis’s history of Black entrepreneurship and the establishment of financial institutions that supported community growth.
